What would be involved in making an NA mr2 into a turbo mr2. I don't have any experience or knowledge about the car, so would it be easier to swap the entire engine or could you find a donor car and scrap the turbo from that?

Get a Turbo from any of the many aftermarket suppliers. Voila.

I remember seeing something in SCC about turboing an MR2. Supposedly the engines are totally different. You could try and find a turbo long block and go from there.

The following is a good site for a reference for an MR2. I would not turbo a NA MR2 engine.

I would say that by the time you paid cash to turbo the N/A, you would have spent the same money just swapping a 3SGTE in there.

I'd definitely agree with you here. On top of that, it would take much more work than to just strap on a turbo to make it right. The NA plant in the MR2 is not as stout as the 3SGTE by any means. It'd be nice to have its extra displacement, but that wouldn't be that important.
Speed and power are a mix of mostly three factors: money, motivation, and time. How fast do you want to go and how broke do you want to be when you get there?
