I want hear some thoughts about what some of you all think is better- manual or electric boost controls. I am looking for a simple economic way to control my boost in a S20DET engine. I was thinking about going with a Hallman brand or something similar. Incab controls would be nice.

Manual will be cheaper, I can garantee that, but I think most would recommend electric.

Electronic without a doubt. You'll have to get out and fiddle with a manual if you want to change settings, whereas you could change them on the fly with an electronic one like an Apexi AVC-R. I have one on my MR2 Turbo. It's great.
Additionally, manual ones have been known to fail repeatedly and have a tendency to bleed off boost due to weak springs. They're also widely inconsistent. They're cheaper and reliable if you're not planning on going for too much boost, but I think you know where I'm pointing.
Up to you.. you'll be happy either way.
Speed and power are a mix of mostly three factors: money, motivation, and time. How fast do you want to go and how broke do you want to be when you get there?

that's exactly what i was going to say, i do manual for 10psi and under, electric for anything more. also electric lets you do gear based boost, so in 1st you could have just 3psi and second you can jump to 6psi and 3rd you can go to what your max is, that way you don't have to worry about traction problems as much.

I and most all of my friends use a manual controller. They are cheap, simple, and easy to use. You really can't go wrong with a brass fitting with two nipples, a ball and a spring.

I didn't beat up this forum too much to find the answer I was looking for so I figured I'd post the question. I was trying to research electronic boost controllers and came across an article that would have probably helped me choose a controller.
http://www.modified.com/tech/0207scc_boost_control/index.html
The results seem to be missing! Does anyone happen to know where to find the results of this article? If not, can someone suggest some decent electronic boost controllers for under $300? Many thanks
