I went through the latest issue.  While it's a bit bulkier, its all ads (dare I count how many pages of ads i had to wade through to get to the table of [censored] contents?).

I went straight to the FnF3 coverage, because the idea of these cars on a dyno seemed like fun.  Until they tell you that most of the cars used in the actual filming are, well, stock.  Cosmetically they all have monstruous kits of some sort, or big wheels and tires, but only a handful have any real power.

Which makes me wonder: how did they film it and still make the cars look like they were going so fast?  Admittedly it is possible to push an EvoIX into the 120mph range right off the showroom, but it'd take alot of work.

I was also interested in the fact that Rhys Millen was involved and seemed to be having fun.  Great, another guy I wish I could be right now...

Computer graphics, my friend. None of the cars in that movie are that fast as evidenced by their rather lackluster power numbers.
Speed and power are a mix of mostly three factors: money, motivation, and time. How fast do you want to go and how broke do you want to be when you get there?

You do not even need computer graphics.. a little glycol on the road surface makes it almost like ice. This is great for oversteer. You can also install really hard tyres that do not grip well.. and as a little movie twist. You film the cars slightly slower than 30 frames a sec.. then play it back at normal speed. Not much, maybe 28 or 27 frames a sec.. makes the car look faster at 30fps

Sorry guys, I am a trained Video Editor. There are LOTS of tricks you can do. I am not even going to go into altering the stunt cars.
