it would be pretty sweet to see how one of the original AWD, turbo, rally based street cars would fare against the newer variants.  lets just hope its WELL modded.  all-trac celicas are one of my favorite cars to this day.  its the original sti / evo.  it was just too ahead of its time for the market.  its a shame Toyota doesnt make cars like this anymore, EVOs and STIs are selling like hotcakes. (relatively speaking)

Owning two All-Tracs I would love to see how well one does against the newer AWD cars out there and I am sure an STi and Evo will make it in this year, how about something a little different and something that almost any enthusist can afford to buy and won't feel too bad about modding (they are pretty rare though) over paying the 25K or so for a used Evo or STi.

I came incredibly close to buying an all-trac a few years back.  It's a crying shame it turned out to be a lemon mechanically when i checked it out.  I'm officially jealous you've owned 2

I would love to see one in the competition, but I'm afraid its time has come and gone (although I would still buy one today).  I would still want to see one compete, but it would have to be built from the ground up to be able to go up against fully built, more technologically advanced EVOs and STIs.  In which case it would lose its driveability and other "daily driven" type tests USCC employs.  Take a look at Steve Mitchell's 350Z - lap times dominated, but it got worked on the driveability factor because of the crazy roll cage and stiff chassis, its an all out track car.

just my 2 cents, but I think a fully built all-trac doesnt quite have enough to edge out a fully built EVO.  I would still root for the under dog though.

Actually I still own two and have owned a total of four of them.  My current 2 are a stock '92 and built '93.

I think the Celica All-Trac's time has come and gone for people with deep pockets but most readers of this magazine and most people in this hobby can't afford to go buy a 30K plus car or even a 20K plus car and start to modify it....between the payment and insurance and the cost to modify it becomes very prohibitive (or very impossible).  I love to see the built Evo's and the built STi's in SCC as do most, and their performance is usually very impressive but the cost to dupilicate or even try to is just plain too high for most readers.  I know it's not called the Ultimate Affordable Street Car Challenge but seeing mix old school and what can be done to them as well as the newer breeds is always fun.  Remember it was not too many years ago that 2nd Gen MR2 won against much newer cars.

I hope to see a good mix of cars this year and not too many shop cars.
