i need some help with finding some parts to get my car to make some more power. according to the things i've read, it only has 88hp. since i don't have the money to by & transfer the 1.8 with 122hp, i want to find some quick & easy ways to gain power. i am planing on a weapon-r short ram intake and maybe a little more free flowing exhaust. possibly a cherrybomb or red hot glasspack. ("fart cans" aren't really my thing)
any help would be much appreciated. thanks!

I had a escort with this motor in it. I had a intake fabbed up to draw air from under the bumper, pacesetter header, high flow cat (a universal 2 1/4 inch one), a custom exhaust made by my local muffler shop (the type of muffler you use will not really cange the sound its the displacement that makes them sound like that), and a cam. I think i got it from crane or crower. it helped alot. didn't make huge power or anything but it was a tough little car. if all else fails get a turbo probe they just as cheap and a hell of a lot faster. good luck my friend, ford compact guys are treated like leppers. I also believe there is a online forum for tracers/escorts but I'm not sure.

Also the 1.8 swap isn't your best bet.... I met a guy who turboed his 1.9. It's a good candidate for it, iron block and head with low compression, but a custom turbo job is a big headache if you don't know what you're doing. Just a thought.
