The problem I have with the cavalier isn't the car as much as its it's driver (I know the car sucks).  Everytime I talk to one of them I hear "Ya man its all about the ECOTEC non of that VTAK bull....t. Man I took out a civic a mustang, and so on and so on." They have this inferiority complex and bravado which just plain corrodes the inside of my mind. It would be the same if I told a story like. "Ya man its all about the Fit man VTAK! none of that VVT-i *** I took on a Yaris, a Geo, a Scion Xa and so on and so on. My car is not the best in the world as a matter of fact it would never classify as a sports car EVER! But I take it once in a while when I have a full tank of gas to The baseball field and cone dodge on an SCCA event. My sidewalls might be all *** up and scored on my tires, but I had a blast. And I don't go. "ya man I got this cell phone video of me and this cobra on the freeway he was going fast on his own, but I passed him so that means I beat him......right? I mean it does he was going fast already....."

Just say its alright it could be better the bolt ons help, but its no out of the box RSX-S or S2000 beater if you wanna continue the whole I hate Honda thing.

master you really need lay off the crack. the main reason we buy cavaliers, Geo, neons, and probes are because we don't want to be like all the other sheep. when we pull into a show or any event for that matter people look. why? 1 to compare your ride to the one pulling in. 2 because its not the same civic, Subaru, evo, eclipse, or z cars you see around with the same old rims, body kits, and wings. for people in a tuner crowd you all are closed minded. I'm a car guy i like them all and respect every one's ride. j-body's have the same potential as any other fwd enono box. and since your throwing mud around I'll return a little. so you rolled your z 9 times great, it tells me the driver cant handle his car, also for a z to be such a great machine it only puts .88g down. i not afraid to say it drive a Geo storm gsi. and in stock trim it outs a .85 down, and it was built in 1991. i could have bought any number car other than it. i got it because you don't see them as much, i paid $900 for it with 90k original miles on it, and its the perfect sleeper. i run it for FUN it doesn't matter if you have a 500hp sti. I've beaten civics, crx's, fit's, yaris', cavaliers, nx's and the like, but i have also had my loses to some of them as well. the point is stop bashing cars because of your ignorance of them. when tuners first started build little pocket rockets the v-8 crowd did the same thing your doing. but now look people are more aware and starting to respect the potential.

i love when people bragg on out running a 223k+ milage cars that come with 115hp stock. i think these cars are wothy of putting up agaist any other platform. there are ld9s putting down 450+whp, 2200s putting down close to 400whp, and not tometion echos putting down up to 1000whp. so why not build these cars there just as reliable as any other cars modded or not

I personately thinks anything can be fast if you have the knowledge... You know about cavaliers and the right one to pick up, they can be fast... the same for Hondas, Toyotas, Dodges, Nissans, etc... I landed some beatings with my Neons but anybody just lied about it because apparently it's a shame to 16 years old kids to beat on VTEC or VVTL-I or whatever things with a dodge... Ehh... Anyway!!

Knowledge is Power!! ...don't believe me?? Read this!!

There's a big difference between the old 2.2 OHV lump, and the 2.2 Ecotec DOHC.

Turbo'd Ecotecs can take a lot of boost with proper tuning, using mostly stock parts.  The 2.2 OHV is a piece of crap.

They are a much cheaper car to make go fast than any non turbo 4 cylinder import, counting purchase price.

Handling can be made decent with full strut/frame braces, and decent rear sway bar, with struts/springs/coilovers etc.  These cars are actually pretty agile when setup properly.  Stock handling sucks, everyone knows that.

Stock J body brakes are probably even worse than the handling, but again, cheap upgrade parts are readily available, and fix this problem as well.

A fully performance modded J body is actually a pretty fun car to drive, for cheap.  It just seems that a lot of posers rice these cars out, but there are actually fast J-Body cars around, and people who know how to make them perform unbelievably awesome.
